Meals Ministry

Our next Cooking Workshop is Saturday, May 5th from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the church kitchen/cafeteria. Ladies, please sign up in the lobby for this fun time to cook with friends and bless our church family. All of the ingredients and supplies for each recipe will be set up on tables in the cafeteria, and we will have multiple batches of recipes such as Bruschetta Chicken Bake and Homestyle Chicken Pot Pie cranked out in no time!

Always be eager to practice hospitality”

What is Knollwood Meals Ministry?

Knollwood Meals Ministry provides meals for Knollwood Church members and regular attendees of the church who have just had a baby, are recovering from surgery or injury, or are grieving the passing of an immediate family member.

The Meals Ministry is an excellent way to meet other people from church and make a difference in someone’s life, with minimal time commitment.

Read some comments from Knollwood Meals Ministry recipients:

“The two meals you sent home to us made all the difference after being in the hospital.

We loved them both and appreciate the gesture so very much!”

“Thank you so much for the two meals during the time my parents

were recovering from pneumonia. God bless you!”

How does the Meals Ministry work?

Cooking Workshops are held about once a quarter to stock our church freezer full of delicious main dishes prepared by the ladies of our church. We set up our church cafeteria with six foot tables stocked with all of the ingredients and cooking tools needed for each recipe ready for when the ladies arrive.

We then prepare about 30 main dishes and place them in our freezer. Then later when needed, more volunteers pick up the meals and deliver them to the families or individuals who need them (sometimes cooked, sometimes frozen depending on the situation).

How can I get involved?

We are always looking for more people to help with this vital caring ministry. You can participate no matter what your cooking skills are. Check it out:

  1. Volunteer to cook at one of our Cooking Workshops.

▪ Cooking Workshops are held on Saturday mornings about once every three months,

and they last about two hours.

▪ If you’re not a great cook, don’t worry about it! You will be on a team of women

who can help with any questions. Everyone has so much fun they want to do it

again, and most learn something new. Time spent with friends is always their

favorite part.

▪ When a Cooking Workshop is planned, you will find it posted under “Calendar.”

  1. Deliver a meal.

Church members can volunteer to deliver a meal to someone who fits the

guidelines of this ministry. If you would like to be on the list to call on an occasional

basis, let Jennifer Dierking know (661-8383 or Jennifer@knollwoodchurch.net)

  1. Support our fundraisers.

We are able to fund our Cooking Workshops through church fundraisers and donations. From time to time we hold Bake Sales or sell seasonal items such as walnuts and pecans on Sunday mornings. We also sell breath mints before every service. All proceeds go towards food and supplies to prepare the meals.

  1. Make a donation.

Make checks payable to Knollwood Church, and write Meals Ministry in the

description line. All donations are tax-deductible. Again, any moneys received will go

directly to the purchase of food and supplies to stock our freezer with main dishes to

deliver to church members or regular attendees in times of need.

What kinds of meals do you prepare?

So far we have made Chicken Cordon Bleu, Cheesy Manicotti, Chicken Creole, Swiss Steak, Ham and Potato Casserole, Beefy Cheese Manicotti, and Quiche Muffins. At our next Cooking Workshop, we will prepare all-new recipes.

“Therefore, as we have opportunity,

let us do good to all people,

especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

―Galatians 6:10 (NIV)
