Fellowship Groups

One of the great causes of Christ is that we might become one…resembling the unity that that Father, Son and Spirit share (John 17:20). One fantastic promise of the scriptures that God commands his blessings when he recognizes our unity! (Psalm 133:1)

This is one of the funnest times of our month (if funnest is a word). People in our church have commented how nice it is to get together in our homes and “let our hair down”. We think that being out of the church building and into the community is the first step to becoming effective in Evangelism. Working in tandem with our roots classes…these groups are the vehicle that allows us to build and strengthen real relationship and friendships. The roots classes build our relationship with God; the fellowship groups build our connection to each other!

One example of the open atmosphere at these groups comes from a lady who brought three prayer requests to her fellowship group. These requests were difficult and stressful to her. Her husband had not worked in some time, her son needed help at school and she was believing God for the increase in her own life. One by one, God began to move on her behalf and in response to the unified prayer of her group. She had let her guard down to become vulnerable in front of other people. What she felt in that group was not judgment, but Love…God’s love inside of people. Don’t you know that it takes trust; before you share what worries you? Each of these burdens was answered by God in a way that exceeded her expectation. God is Good! God had come through once again and replaced the shared sorrow of this group with a shared joy and a renewed faith in God.

Each month the groups rotate around the city meeting at different times and different homes. Check our online calendar and the information desk in the church lobby for times and Maps.
